Chaplain’s Column July 2008 Dear Brothers and fellow Knights,
Greetings to you and all your family
members.
Some question the value of the Chapter
meeting.
Maybe there have been problems in the past, and maybe
the meetings have not always been what we might have
hoped they would be, but that does not mean that we
should abandon them or just not attend any monthly
meeting. If
something has not been to your liking, have you made
some effort to have this corrected?
It is very easy to criticize in private, but much
more beneficial to our assembled Brothers if problems
can be faced in public in order to have them rectified.
The Chapter meeting should really exemplify our
Unity within our Diocese of Orange, and of course
Charity and Fraternity must always prevail. Our Supreme Knight wrote some
time ago: “Today more than ever society needs
men who will place the common good above personal
interest.
Today more than ever society needs men committed to
self-sacrifice and not selfishness – men who understand
that in times of crisis charity is a duty.
Today more than ever society needs men who
understand that unity and fraternity are the foundations
of strong community”. Yes, we place our personal dedication and commitment to the advancement of the Knights in our Chapter under the microscope as we launch into the new Columbian Year, and it is the revitalization of the holiness of our Councils that will lead to growth. We have much to offer society by our faithfulness and determination in our striving for Fraternal Charity and Unity. May this new year be one of greater
commitment by each of our Councils and every individual. With every good wish and God’s blessing on you and your families. Your brother Knight and Chaplain, Fr. John P. Grace, o.s.a.
